Vasalgel given to 16 monkeys resulted in 100% successful contraception — no pregnancies after 1 to 2 years. The results, published in Basic and Clinical Andrology, also showed that Vasalgel was well-tolerated in the monkeys, who had fewer complications than a control group receiving vasectomy. The results are important to the development of Vasalgel as a male contraceptive, especially since monkeys are more similar to humans than other animals.
